Challenge Words

 

The challenge word mechanically has five syllables. All of the phonemes in this word have by now been introduced as basic patterns. If your student has confidently mastered each pattern up to this point in the lessons, and if he reads properly from left to right, syllable to syllable, he will be able to read this word without assistance. Being able to read long words bolsters a student’s confidence. Remember to have your student spell each and every word in the Lesson 80 list. Talk about the meaning of the words and use the dictionary when needed.
